Beautiful, love this pattern but I'm wondering why the pattern begins with lines 1-3?
According to the picture that would be in the middle of the blanket and this pattern is worked all on one side without turning from top to bottom. Wouldn't line 141 be the first line worked? Please help. These directions are very limited. I hope someone can explain it them to me. Thanks.

Bought this pattern as it is so beautiful. Unable to figure out how to read the graph, and do not understand the instructions for rows 142-275. The pattern shows row numbers on the second page of graph so I figure I should start on row marked 1. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm very happy with the progress of this blanket. This is a work of art. I'm using Red Heart, and am finding that the color quantities (ounces) called for are sufficient to make multiple blankets. The written instructions are somewhat useless to the novice, so I recommend researching tapestry crochet and working swatches for the sections with incorporated design. I offer up a site that is really helpful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIX7gGW79Bw. It's more slow-going, but well worth the meticulous effort, as the blanket is absolutely stunning. Between the charts and the photograph, I have plenty to go by.

Also, the stitch gauge for a size G hook doesn't jibe with my tension, which is firm but not deliberately tight, so instead of 218 stitches, I've increased the foundation chain to 304 stitches, which produces a width of 67 inches. I use an inline (Susan Bates)aluminum hook, size G.

I did use the recommended yarn for this gorgeous blanket. The amount of yarn called for in the pattern makes TWO of these blankets with yarn left over.
