I was hoping I wasn't the only person who experienced difficulties with this fabulous hat pictured. I tried crocheting this pattern five times and finally gave up! First the sixty six chains were too small to fit around my head which is normal size using a J hook as recommended. I use the J hook for all my hats with all my hats and they fit perfectly. Next I tried it from the crown down only to find the stitches did not swirl with a single crochet and front post double crochet. Finally as I approached the middle of my work, I decided to try a SLIP STITCH and a front post double crochet and got the swirl pattern. I finished it, but the entire hat does not swirl. I added the brim which ended up backwards. I decided to give in another try using the SLIP STITCH and (fpdc)working from the crown down, It ended up being too many stitches and they overlapped. I am disgusted with this pattern. I will continue to wear the hat I finished as is.

I had a client request this hat & I'm having a hard time getting the right number of stitches at first. I've been losing half my stitches because of the fpdc. I would love some advice or help because the client needs it before March 20th!
