This vest is worked from the bottom up in a pretty all-over lace pattern that is surprisingly simple to knit. Short rows are used to taper the front edges and allow them to hang at a seductive angle. Decreasing at the waistline creates a very flattering gathered effect, at which point the vest transitions into a nicely textured cable pattern in front and 2 x 2 ribbing in the back for a great fitted shape. Closures are omitted to allow this vest to be worn many ways. Add a gorgeous pin to fasten it at the waist or higher up.

Knit with 672 (768, 864, 960, 1056, 1248, 1344) yds of worsted weight yarn at a gauge of 15-19 sts and 16 rows per 4", using US size 8/5mm and 10/6mm needles. Approximate finished bust measurements: 29 1/2 (33 1/2, 37 3/4, 42, 45 1/2, 49 1/2, 53 3/4)" sized to fit XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X) when worn closed with a shawl pin. Design by SweaterBabe.com.
