Krista Southern is an expert sewer, and learned sewing at an early age from her mother, an accomplished seamstress. She has been sewing most of her life and was lucky enough to pursue her love of sewing after she retired from a 31-year career in the health field. Although she sews and embellishes a variety of items, she is particularly fond of machine embroidery and has been teaching since 2001.
Krista is very active in the American Sewing Guild, and served as the President of the Indianapolis Chapter from 2009-2012. She says that in the last couple of years, the sewing guild is seeing more and more interest in its members purchasing embroidery machines. In a recent poll, approximately 80% of the membership said they own an embroidery machine. Krista currently teaches new owner classes and embroidery software classes for a local machine dealership. In addition, she facilitates the embroidery club for a fabric shop and continues to pursue her love of all things sewing. |
