Editor's Introduction

For many people, Christmas is the biggest holiday of the year. It is almost time to bring out the decorations, dust off the holiday baking books and search for some much-loved Christmas carols on the radio dial. If your decorations are getting a little shabby, or you are more the "make-your-own" type, then some holiday sewing projects for the home are in order.

Lots of people buy real or artificial trees and wreaths, but there are lots of other opportunities to decorate your home with personal pieces you've sewn this year or over many years. These carefully crafted decorations are the most loved, and often, are the most treasured by kids when they grow up and decorate their own homes. Many a family ornament or decoration passes from one home to another so that new generations grow up with a favorite wall hanging, holiday blanket or stuffed Santa.
