Editor's Introduction

2012 is coming to a close and a new year stretches ahead. What will you do with this new year? Lots of people decide to learn a new skill, whether it's learning a new language, how to do machine embroidery, landscape painting, or handy skills for home or car maintenance.

If you decide to learn a new skill it often comes with new tools and supplies -- more stuff to store in your home or garage. Once you've accumulated a few new hobbies the stuff is likely to overwhelm you, so make this the year to sort through it and decide what to keep, what to donate, what to sell and what needs to be put out for the trash man. Think of it this way: If tomorrow you decided to move to a smaller space, what would you really want, and what would just be another box to move? That's what inspired me to clean out my sewing/crafting studio.
