Embroidery Needles

Great tips!

Embroidery uses two common types of needles: Tapestry and Beading:

  • Tapestry needles are blunt ended and this makes them best for counted-thread embroidery. Size 24 is standard for 14-count Aida, perforated paper and 28-count linen. Size 26 tapestry is used for 32-count linen, and size 28 tapestry is used for 36-count and higher linen.
  • Beading needles are also useful for cross stitch when adding petite seed beads to a project. The standard beading needle size is 10.
