I have made this jumper using Sublime baby cashmere merino silk. The instructions include (Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!) a stitch chart and make it much easier to follow the pattern - especially for the part-motifs round the neck. The pattern is written so that you join the motifs (very quick to crochet) as you go. The downside to this is that, whilst you end up with a completed garment that doesn't need sewing up - it is more difficult to block. Blocking is essential for this pattern in order to show the motifs to their best advantage - it looks fabulous once blocked. Sewing up becomes a little more complicated as you do need to maintain the pattern of the blocks if you want to avoid having an obvious seam where there shouldn't be one. It takes more time and patience but in my opinion it's worth it. I was getting a lot of admiring looks/comments when the garment was drying out on the blocking board. Just wait till they see me wearing it!
