This slouchy-style hat with its allover lace pattern is a perfect accessory for transitional months. The leaf lace-stitch pattern is easy to execute and knits up quickly! Knit with approximately 113 yards of worsted-weight yarn at a gauge of 21 stitches and 25 rows per 4" using U.S. sizes 7/4.5mm and 8/5mm 16" circular needles and 8/5mm double-point needles.
Finished size stretches to fit a 20"-22" head circumference.

Plum Tree Slouch Hat Knit Pattern

This was my first attempt at anything resembling a lace pattern. I really enjoyed knitting it up and watching the pattern as it developed (it might be a newbie thing). The end result looked exactly like the picture and I get compliments whenever I wear it. It takes about 4 dedicated hours and a bit of concentration, though after a while you will start to see a predictable pattern to the stitches. Having a row counter is a must. I finished it and immediately started on another. So far I've made four. Highly recommend it, especially if it's your first lace project.

I love everything about this pattern. You will need to know how to knit in the round which is super easy as long as you don't twist when you are joining. The yarn has a little nylon in it which gives it great memory. The yarn is not pure wool; it's an acrylic/wool blend so it's not itchy at all. I'm not a very fast knitter but I made two of these hats over the weekend. Now I'm thinking of making one for myself!
