Learn to Crocodile Stitch: 4 Easy Techniques FAQ

Why is it 5 dc in the first V-stitch and not 6 like the rest?Expand

When a beginning crocodile scale is started, the ch-3 of a beginning crocodile scale (at the beginning of a crocodile scale row or rnd) counts as 1 dc and then 5 dc are worked around the left side of the V-st. The 6 dc that are worked on the right side of the V-st equal the ch-3 (which counts as 1 dc) and 5 dc on the left side. Then, when you continue to work more crocodile scales (for example as in the rnds for the boot toppers) you will work 6 dc around each side of the V-st. You can actually hear me explain this at the beginning of rnd 2 of the boot topper design in the In the Round technique.

The instructor was very good and friendly, however I thought she was a little to fast in the beginning as I was trying to follow, so I wrote down instructions as she spoke, which made it a little easier to comprehend. I also can not get the second DVD to play. I think this is a very good class, and I am glad to have added it to my collect.

I enjoyed this class. It was done so that even a beginner could easily follow it. The only thing that would make it better would be to make it easy to advance from one project to the other. I enjoyed the instructor, and thought she was very personable and skillful. I also made the owl purse from the downloaded instructions, and it came out very cute. The instructions were complete and easy to follow.

Not sure why but my class was a little blurry. There were also sometimes that I thought to the person who was filming should have focused in on the yarn and hook as the stitches were being made. It took some attention and patience with stopping and reviewing but I was able to make the the crocodile stitch and accomplish the scarf for two friends for Christmas so I think the class was worth it. This is one of my favorite stitches and I'm happy that I can do it on my own now.

I really enjoyed the class. Instructor was very thorough in explaining the stitch in each of the individual projects. Would definitely recommend the course to intermediate level crocheters.
