Learn to Crocodile Stitch: 4 Easy Techniques FAQ
Why is it 5 dc in the first V-stitch and not 6 like the rest?Expand
When a beginning crocodile scale is started, the ch-3 of a beginning crocodile scale (at the beginning of a crocodile scale row or rnd) counts as 1 dc and then 5 dc are worked around the left side of the V-st. The 6 dc that are worked on the right side of the V-st equal the ch-3 (which counts as 1 dc) and 5 dc on the left side. Then, when you continue to work more crocodile scales (for example as in the rnds for the boot toppers) you will work 6 dc around each side of the V-st. You can actually hear me explain this at the beginning of rnd 2 of the boot topper design in the In the Round technique.
