Star Stitch

Beyond Basic Stitches

Star stitch is a 2-row pattern repeat, and once mastered, it is really simple to follow. Row 1 is the star base row where the bottom half of the star is made. In row 2 the star is completed.
To work star stitch, begin with a multiple of 10 + 2 chs. To begin, insert hk in 2nd ch from hk, yo, pull up a lp, [insert hook in next ch, yo, pull up a lp] 4 times, yo and pull through all 6 lps on hook, ch 1 (see illustration -- Beginning Star Stitch completed).

Insert hk in ch just made, yo, pull up a loop, insert hook in side of last star st, yo, pull up a lp, insert hook in chain at base of last star st, yo, pull up a loop, [insert hook in next ch, yo, pull up a lp] 2 times, yo, pull through all 6 lps on hk, ch 1 (see illustration -- Star Stitch completed).
