I too had problems at first understanding rows 3 and 4. I was reading it wrong. When I finally figured it out, I went to town. When this says "skip", it's a whole section and not just one skip. When I saw it as a "group to skip", it finally made sense. I love the look of this sweater and can't wait to finish it.

I love the sweater but I was wanting to use another yarn or thread like crochet thread as I live in Texas where it get in the 100's so I wanted a lighter weight cotton yarn. How much yardage and weight is in a skein of Sinfonia cotton yarn. Thanks Kay Sandgren at email@example.com
Annie's Customer ServiceKay - Omega Sinfonia cotton is 3.5 ounces and 218 yards per skein.

I agree with Gayla. I must be missing something. Could I see what you advised her to do on rows 3 and 4? Thanks.
Annie's Customer ServiceBonnie - The stitches in parenthesis are correct in row 3 and row 4.
In row 3 this section (Ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space, ch 3, 5 dc in next ch 3 space) is repeated a specific number of times per size to make the pattern of stitches for the top.
Row 3 - Sc in 1st dc. (Ch 3, skip 3 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, skip ch 3, sc, and ch 3, sc in next dc) 9 (10,11,12) times. Ch 3, skip 3 dc, sc in last dc. Ch 3, turn.
Row 4 - 4 dc in 1st ch 3 space. This is worked into the italic ch 3 above (Ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space, ch 3, 5 dc in next ch 3 space) 8 (9,10,11) times. This is worked in the bold italic parenthesis stitches above Ch 3 sc in next ch 3 space, ch 3, 4 dc in next ch 3 space, dc in last sc. This is worked into the bold beginning stitches above along with the beginning of the blue parenthesis stitches. Ch 1, turn.

I have made two of these sweaters and did not have any problem with the pattern. I have had many compliments on my sweater. I am going to make a third one for a friend for Christmas.
