Matelasse Crochet Baby Blankets

I absolutely love the circular baby blanket pattern in this set and have made two of them. I have been crocheting for many years so did not find the pattern difficult and the glossary was very well written if I was uncertain as how to proceed with a particular stitch. I used the recommended yarn (Bernat Baby Sport) for the first blanket, then decided to try using some left-over worsted weight yarn and the same size hook without concern for the gauge. I am pleased with the result. It is about the same size as the one made with the recommended yarn, just a heavier version, which took about 2-1/2 skeins of Caron One Pound Baby yarn. Looking forward to trying another of the patterns in this set.

Absolutely beautiful, although I first found this a little bit daunting, as the stitch description is different in Australia, I have worked it out, and it is going in a competition in March 2016, I will acknowledge the Author and Publisher in this work. Keep these lovely patterns coming I love them and I am the envy of all my crafty friends.

Priscilla Hewitt is a fantastic designer. LOVE HER PATTERNS! I crocheted her Lille Matelass Circular Baby Afghan for the County Fair this last July. Won a BLUE Ribbon! I'm working on one of her full size Matelass afghans for the fair next year. I will be getting this set of patterns. These are new. If you want a beautiful baby afghan that everyone "ooos" and "aaas" over, get these patterns. They really are not difficult. The pattern repeats, so once you get the pattern down, they are rather easy and enjoyable to do. I recommend using a solid color. The first time I did one, I used a variegated yard. Even though it was very pretty, the wonderful pattern seemed to disappear.
