I just got this quilt back from the long arm quilter. I used an all over green small fern print background and added two borders. The first border was a pea green two inch and the second was a larger six and a half inch jungle babies animal print with cornerstones using the fern print. I plan to bind in the fern print as well. The long arm quilter quilted elephants in the small pea green border and on the cornerstones. The final quilt measures 43 inches square, a nice crib size. I have been quilting for many years and have made a lot of appliques some rated experienced with no problems. This is the largest, by far, applique I have ever done. I definitely do not think this is a beginner project, more like an experienced intermediate. A true beginner trying this project will be in over their head right off the bat in my opinion.

Just some problems with the pattern itself. The ear was not marked. Using process of elimination, it is # 11, and should be DG. There was also NOT a pattern placement guide. Although some may not think this is needed, it is to make the pattern easier to follow for beginners. I used a pink background, as this will be for a girl's room. Super cute in pink!
