I used the recommended yarn, but it doesn't stay up, it collapses down. I've sewn a strip of heavy duty fabric for the circumference of the inside with sewn columns that I inserted stuff plastic columns into. Then I had to take sturdy thread to tack the fabric to in multiple places. So much work and still doesn't look right. Too soft.

I've done this twice now; on my third one. The first one I did add a few extra rows to the sides as my cat is bigger and I wanted him to have it for Christmas. However, it's not really tall enough. To keep the sides up, I purchased 1" poly-foam and cut it to size. Even with a top and bottom piece of foam. Then I sewed a strip on each side to hold the foam in and keep it right. After that, using two pieces of yarn together, I made another bottom that fit right on the foam and can be washed whenever. It looks cute. Then I decided to make the next one like the shaggy dog. I made it higher, but I should have made the bottom a bit wider. Make it at least 18" around. I also sewed strips of crocheted yarn on the sides and top to keep it from shifting, then I made another strip with loops of yarn pulled through it to look like a shaggy dog. Put buttons on the one strip to look like eyes. Then made "shaggy" ears. Everyone loves it and they want one!

This project makes up quick but doesn't work right at all I've "made" it three times with different yarn each time but it never stays up!! I know it says try inserts but would any cat really not just shred them up?!?! I will try again I'm sure but not right away

I always wanted to make this for my kitties, Will 2 kitties fit in 1 of them or I would probably have to purchase 2 for both of them? It is so cute!
