Already have this tool and it does indeed show me where the scant 1/4" point is, stacking the blue painters tape sound like a wonderful aid! MANY THANKS!!!!

I absolutely love this tool. I collect and use vintage and antique, as well as, contemporary sewing machines. This tool allows me to switch sewing machines and maintain a perfect scant quarter inch seam each time. I use a stack of blue painter's tape to mark the seam line. The tape removes easily and does not damage the aged japanning/paint or decals.
