In this Learn, Make, Create! episode brought to you by Annie's Creative Studio, sewing and quilting expert Sherry Duncan teaches how to make three variations of a zippered snack pouch. She also shows off a number of bags she's made with this process. They're sure to spark your creativity!

In this episode, you'll learn how to:
  • Apply vinyl to snack bag material.
  • Install a basic zipper.
  • Sew a boxed corner.
  • Add a wrist strap with D ring.
Finished Sizes:
Bag 1 (basic zipper pouch): 7 1/2" x 4"
Bag 2 (wrapped zipper pouch with boxed corners): 2" x 7 1/2" x 6"
Bag 3 (wrapped zipper pouch with boxed corners and wrist strap): 3" x 9 1/4" x 6"

Materials for Bag 1
  • 12 oz Nestlé® Toll House® Morsels bag
  • 2 (8" x 4 1/2") cotton fabric pieces (lining)
  • 2 (10" x 7") pieces matte vinyl fuse*
  • Coordinating 14" polyester all-purpose zipper
  • Used gift card or plastic scraper for smoothing matte vinyl fuse
  • Fabric clips
  • Blunt tool for turning corners
  • Zipper foot
  • Thread
  • Basic sewing tools and supplies

  • 14.3 oz Oreo® cookies bag
  • 2 (8 1/2" x 7 1/4") cotton fabric pieces (lining)
  • 2 (2") squares cotton fabric (zipper wraps)
  • 2 (10" x 9") pieces matte vinyl fuse*
  • Coordinating 14" polyester all-purpose zipper
  • Used gift card or plastic scraper for smoothing matte vinyl fuse

  • 1 (1 1/2" x 2") squares fusible stabilizer (D-ring tab)*
  • 2" x 13" piece cotton fabric (wrist strap)
  • 2" x 13" piece fusible stabilizer (wrist strap)*
  • 1/2" small swivel hook and D-ring*
  • Coordinating 14" polyester all-purpose zipper
